Our Parish has been supporting Anglicans and the Community in Benoni for over 70 years and
as
with all Businesses and NGO’s, is struggling financially as our Parishioners are slowly
declining, due to old age, Pensioner incomes and Emigration to other parts of the World.
During all of these tough times (Covid 19) we have continued to hold services weekly and
after
the relaxation of the laws, are enjoying tea and coffee after our Sunday service to greet
and
meet all Parishioners who have been holed up in their homes. We have a strong team of Ladies
organizing the tea and coffee who belong to our Martha and Mary organization who combine
with
our Buyani House to continuously find ways to assist the poor and needy through sourcing and
holding Jumble sales to provide clothing for the them, as well as arranging Home craft Fairs
to
encourage entrepreneurship.
Many of our Ladies and Gentlemen offer their time during the week to help sort out and
prepare
food meals, sandwiches and parcels for Families in need, who rely on them and collect these
every week.
This wonderful team works under our Social Responsibility programme, prepares and feeds a
cooked
meal to about 40 people every Monday and Thursday.
On Wednesdays they serve 10 loaves of sandwiches.
On Tuesdays the team at Buyani House makes 14 loaves of sandwiches and delivers them to the
Central Methodist Church for people in Central Benoni district.
Buyani House arranges Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) via our trained Siyalella
Councillors as well as a counselling service for the sick, the bereaved, the oppressed, the
abused, the hurting, the dysfunctional, the traumatised, the addicted, the displaced and the
lonely.
All of the above requires action by Dedicated People, to co-ordinate and manage. All of this
is
done voluntary by our existing Parishioners.
With declining numbers and ever increasing costs we must find funding to implement and
maintain
our programmes.
For the past 4 years our budget has been negative and we are extremely grateful for all
donations and your participation in our fund raising events as we strive to break even.
